Documentation
Linking Google Ads accounts is the first setup step that makes Adnine useful. Once accounts are linked, every team member with the right Google access can run reports, automations, insights, and scheduled workflows against the same shared set of accounts. The linking flow uses Google OAuth, takes under a minute, and can be done during sign-up or any time later from Settings.
- Connection method
- Google OAuth
- Permissions requested
- Google Ads data and Google Search Console data
- Who links accounts
- Admins only (or the user in a single-user team)
- Who authorizes access
- Every team member, including admins
- Visibility rule
- Account must be both admin-linked and personally accessible
#What linking does
Linking a Google Ads account tells Adnine which accounts your team works with. Without a link, the account is invisible to everyone on the team, even if an individual user has direct Google Ads access to it. Once an admin links an account, it becomes part of the team's shared workspace and can be used for reports, automations, insights, keyword tools, and scheduled reporting.
Linking is separate from authorizing. Linking adds an account to the team pool. Authorizing confirms your personal Google access so Adnine knows which of those team accounts you can actually use.
Linking vs. authorizing
| Action | Who does it | What it enables |
|---|---|---|
| Link a Google Ads account | Admin | Makes the account available to the entire team |
| Authorize personal Google access | Every user | Confirms which linked accounts that user can see and use |
| Re-authorize after access changes | Every user | Updates Adnine when Google Ads access is added or removed |
#Permissions Adnine requests
When you start the linking or authorization flow, Adnine redirects you to a standard Google OAuth screen. You will be asked to grant two permissions: access to your Google Ads data and access to your Google Search Console data. After you accept, Adnine can read the Google Ads accounts connected to that Google login and use the selected accounts inside the platform.
#Admin linking flow
Only admins (and solo users in single-user teams) can link Google Ads accounts to the team. Until an admin links an account, no one on the team can see it inside Adnine. Linking is done once per account; it does not need to be repeated unless you want to add more accounts later.
- Open the linking flow Go to Settings and click Link Google Ads Accounts. You can also do this during sign-up. Adnine will redirect you to Google OAuth.
- Authorize with the right Google account Complete the Google OAuth screen using the Google login that has access to the Google Ads accounts you want to connect. Grant permission for both Google Ads data and Google Search Console data.
- Select accounts for the team Adnine shows the Google Ads accounts available to that Google login. Select the accounts that should be linked to your Adnine team.
- Confirm the link The selected accounts are now part of the team's account pool. Team members can see and use them once they have also authorized their own Google access.
#Standard-user authorization
Standard users cannot link new Google Ads accounts to the team, but they do need to authorize their personal Google access. This authorization tells Adnine which of the admin-linked accounts you are allowed to use. Without it, you cannot see any team accounts even if they have already been linked.
- Open the authorization flow Go to Settings and click Authorize Google Ads. Adnine redirects you to Google OAuth.
- Complete Google OAuth Grant the requested Google Ads and Search Console permissions using the Google login that has your Ads access.
- Access your eligible accounts Adnine cross-checks your personal Google access against the accounts an admin has linked. Accounts that pass both checks become available to you in Adnine.
#Who can do what
Role permissions for account access
| Action | Admin | Standard user |
|---|---|---|
| Link new Google Ads accounts to the team | Yes | No |
| Authorize personal Google account access | Yes | Yes |
| See admin-linked accounts (with personal Google access) | Yes | Yes |
| Run reports, automations, and insights | Yes, for accessible linked accounts | Yes, for accessible linked accounts |
| Add accounts linked by this admin to scheduled team reports | Yes | No |
#The visibility rule
Before Adnine shows a Google Ads account or allows it to be used in any feature, it checks two conditions simultaneously. Both must be true.
Conditions for an account to appear
If either condition is false, the account stays hidden and cannot be used.
| Condition | What it means | How to fix it if missing |
|---|---|---|
| Admin has linked the account | An admin has added the account to the team's Adnine workspace | Ask an admin to go to Settings and link the account |
| You have personal Google Ads access | The Google login you authorized in Adnine has access to that Google Ads account | Request access in Google Ads Manager, then re-authorize in Adnine |
#Access sync
Adnine keeps your Google Ads access up to date through regular background syncs. You do not need to re-authorize every time your access changes. Adnine detects changes automatically and updates your profile.
- If you gain access to a new Google Ads account, Adnine detects this and adds it to your view (as long as an admin has also linked it).
- If you lose access to an account, Adnine removes it from your view.
- New accounts that appear after a sync still require an admin link before anyone on the team can use them.
#Troubleshooting
Common issues and solutions
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| An account you expect is not visible in Adnine | The account has not been linked by an admin, or you have not yet authorized your Google access | Ask an admin to link the account, then authorize your Google access in Settings |
| You linked an account but your teammates cannot see it | Teammates have not authorized their personal Google access, or they do not have Google Ads access to that account | Ask teammates to go to Settings and complete the Authorize Google Ads flow |
| The Google OAuth screen does not show the account you want | The Google login you are using does not have access to that Google Ads account | Switch to a Google login that has access, or request access in Google Ads Manager first |
| You authorized successfully but no accounts appear | No admin has linked any accounts to the team yet, or your Google login has no accessible Ads accounts | An admin must link at least one account; verify Google Ads access for the login you used |
| An account disappeared from your view | You lost access in Google Ads, or the admin removed the team link | Check access in Google Ads Manager and contact your admin if the link was removed unexpectedly |
#Best practices
- Use a Google login with broad access when linking accounts as an admin, so all relevant accounts can be selected in one step.
- Link all Google Ads accounts your team actively uses before inviting teammates, so their authorization flow surfaces accounts immediately.
- When a new teammate joins, remind them to complete the Authorize Google Ads flow in Settings before their first report.
- If your agency manages multiple clients, keep client accounts separated by Adnine team to avoid cross-team visibility.
- After a Google Ads access change (gaining or losing accounts), re-authorize in Adnine to sync the change immediately rather than waiting for the background sync.
- Assign at least two admins to a team so account linking can continue if the primary admin is unavailable.
